Debunking Some Myths About Grant Writing
We will be starting a series of articles that address some of the common misconceptions about grants and grant writing. Writing proposals for grants has become a necessary skill for academic researchers and students as well. So understanding the truth and mystique about grants is critical. In my research I ran across a great article originally written in the Chronicle of Higher Education. Though the article is dated 2003, all of the points addressed are still valid today and will still apply. Some of the myths debunked include “There is no money available; the grant-writing well has dried up” and “The money that is available goes to big, prestigious institutions, not to individuals or to small institutions”. Read the full article at the Chronicle’s site.
